JOB DESCRIPTION

The Collections Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of Accounts Receivable (A/R) aging and all the related collection efforts, in order to ensure continuous cash flow and reduction of A/R delinquent balances. This role will also assist in maintaining a relationship with any or all of the group contacts, account executives, brokers and collection agency in support of Delta Dental's collection procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establishes and maintains communication links with either groups, account executives and/or brokers to collect overdue balances. Coordinates collection efforts on dual choice groups/individuals with enterprise affiliates.
  • Prepares A/R aging reports and monitors aging balances including documentation of progress reports.
  • Generates dunning letters and emails notifications to recipients with outstanding A/R balances. Recipients may include individuals, groups, account executives, account managers and brokers.
  • Follows up on collection procedures including phone or email outreach, initiating holds and/or terminations for non-payment of premiums as required in compliance with the respective state regulations and Delta Dental's collection policies. Prepares alternate plans of action for such groups/individuals with persistent balances.
  • Develops and documents customized plans of action for collections on delinquent accounts, including the engagement of respective group/individual contacts, account executives, account managers and brokers. Works with the Delta Dental assigned collection agency to communicate balances turned over to collections including preparation of the collection package supporting the outstanding balances.
  • Escalates complex billing and account issues and follows up on resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1+ years of experience w/High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience plus Associate degree is preferred
  • Working knowledge of a financial system, Word, and Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Detail-oriented; flexible and creative with excellent organization and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Delta Dental policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Ability to be a strong team player and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong negotiation and issue resolution skills
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable, collection policies and procedures
  • Maintains the strictest patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines

    Base Pay Information

    The national base pay range is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $39,000 - $73,200
